How does pricing work?
The short answer is that prices depend on what kind of editing help you need.

-
Idea development happens in conversation, and it’s priced by the hour.
-
Developmental editing, copyediting, and proofreading are priced by the project, and depend on the state of the manuscript. We’ll discuss that in your free consultation.

Once the price is determined, you pay half at the beginning of the project and the remainder once it’s delivered.

Prices vary according to the complexity of work your manuscript needs, so please contact me: I offer a free 30-minute consultation to discuss your project. After that, you’ll send me a short excerpt (5-10 pages), and I’ll edit/comment on it so that you can see how the process works.
FAQ
How do we start?
With a consultation. I offer a free 30-minute consultation (via video call); we discuss your project, and then you will send me a short sample (5-10 pages) which I’ll edit and return to you so that you see how I work.

What are the different types of editing?
I work with everyone from first-time authors to established writers at any stage of your project.
There are four stages of writing where an editor can help you:
-
We can start at the point where your idea is just germinating, and map out a path (idea development).
-
If you have a draft, no matter how disjointed, I can advise you how the parts might fit together to make a seamless, persuasive whole (developmental editing).
-
And if a project’s almost done, I can bring a fresh eye to the writing and smooth out sentences to make them lively and clear, while keeping the prose stylistically consistent (line editing/copy editing).
-
The last stage is the final polish – making sure the writing is correct and clean (proofreading).
